food trucks

I never really liked the concept of food trucks at first. Greasy fast food cooked and served from a vehicle? I was skeptical.

But that all changed when I had my first meal from a food truck and it tasted great (and didn’t make me sick!).

It’s impressive to see how hard the employees work to serve up freshly cooked food to person after person in line.

I also love seeing the different ways that the trucks are painted and designed.

All right, it’s that time of year again…the sun is shining, people are spending time outdoors, flowers are blooming…it’s time for street carnivals!

One big part of these carnivals is the food…even if you don’t plan to eat there, it sure is hard to resist! (I usually lose the battle.)

say cheese!

What’s with all the cheese?

On a quick two-day visit to Dubai, we visited the Mall of the Emirates.

Besides being an amazingly ginormous mall, it also housed an equally ginormous supermarket hypermarket, called Carrefour. It’s basically a supermarket with all the usual goods, and also sections with clothing and household items. It reminded me of a really huge WalMart, except it’s classy .

As we entered the store, we passed through the produce and food departments, and I couldn’t help but notice the beautiful and creative ways many of the food items were displayed.

Cheese…and lots of it!

But cheese was not the only food item creatively displayed. I’ll post more photos from that visit in the coming weeks…stay tuned!
