be prosperous

The start of a New Year is always a time for new beginnings, as we all know. But I like to also think of them as the doorways to the next chapter of our story.

Chinese New Year was last weekend, and I thought it fitting to display images of doorways that I had photographed in Chinatown, to symbolize the old departing and the new entering, hopefully ushering more prosperity than the previous year.

According to Wikipedia: It is also traditional for every family to thoroughly cleanse the house, in order to sweep away any ill-fortune and to make way for good incoming luck. Windows and doors will be decorated with red color paper-cuts and couplets with popular themes of good fortune or happiness, wealth, and longevity.
